Heaviness and oppression come out of the occult. The spirit of heaviness and oppression affects the nervous system. It can also refer to depression and putting on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness is wisdom.

"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified" (Isaiah 61:1-3 NKJV)

Depression or "heaviness" is a "SPIRIT." When we are unaware of the devils schemes and the way to fight them, the result can be "a spirit of heaviness" that can paralyze us emotionally!

The ANSWER for a "spirit of heaviness" is the "garment of praise." Satan hates praise. Praise exalts Jesus. It ushers in light and life into our circumstances. It is the ultimate act of faith.

In every situation in our lives, Satan seeks to discredit God and get our eyes off Him. One of the surest signs that he has succeeded is a lack of praise and joy in our lives. PRAISE IS A CRITICALdiscipline and foundation in our lives that keeps the devil from oppressing and deceiving us. Praise is also a powerful force that repels a spirit of heaviness from our presence (Psalm 149:6) and ushers us into a the presence of God (Psalms 22:3 and 100:4)

In learning to overcome depression, we not only need to realize the devil's desire to assault us with a "spirit of heaviness," but we must also realize how important our confession is in defeating him. The words we speak with our mouths are very important. If our words are filled with discouragement and darkness, we have paved the way for forces of darkness to either begin or continue to oppress us. However, if our words are filled with hope, faith, and praise for God, we have opened the door for God to flood our lives with His light and power.

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit." Proverbs 18:21

Jesus said, "But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." Matthew 12:36-37

Through PRAYER and PROCLAMATIONS OF TRUTH AND PRAISE, we have complete authority over every spirit of darkness. DON'T LET THE DEVIL OR HIS DEMONS HARASS YOU! Regardless of how you feel, how things look, or what anyone says, stand up and begin to praise the Lord and confess the truth of His Word. As you do, darkness will flee and God's light will begin to penetrate your life.

To get someone free from heaviness and oppression, you must first break the power of occultic spirits and then the spirits of heaviness and oppression. Find out if they have been involved with occultic type stuff and/or their family has participated with Freemasonry, Momonism, Catholic church, etc. Then after they get delivered, have them listen to worship and praise and keep the garment of praise on them.
